Deceit, seduction and money. A dangerous combination. This is what a wealthy Cuban coffee merchant finds when he orders a mail-order bride from the States. Luis Antonio Vargas (Antonio Banderas) expects a simple wife but instead is enraptured when the beautiful Julia Russell (Angelina Jolie) arrives. They marry and have a steamy romance but Julia is hotter for Luis' money than she is for him. In fact, she is interested in any man if he has enough money. Then her old lover Billy (Thomas Jane) shows up and complicates things. Billy doesn't have any money but he does have a plan. Meanwhile, an obsessed Luis is willing to give up his wealth, his honor, and even his life, to stay with his Julia. Unfortunately, so is Billy. |
