George Simmons (Adam Sandler) is a moderately successful stand-up comic who has become a movie sensation doing mindless and puerile movies. Suddenly he receives disheartening medical news. He has an untreatable leukemia that will soon kill him. Because he has focused on his career, he has no real friends, but decides in this crisis to “hire” friends. He takes on budding comic Ira Wright (Seth Rogan) as his opening act and personal assistant and tries to rekindle a relationship with a former love named Laura (Leslie Mann) who married Clarke (Eric Bana). So, he returns to stand-up stage for the final year of his life. |
