Four petty crooks are involved in the world of underground gambling in Los Angeles. Tiffany (Thandie Newton) and Charlie (Gabriel Byrne) are involved in a scheme involving a fake diamond ring. Larry (Jamie Foxx) is involved in cheating in underground poker games with the assistance of Tiffany and Charlie. The other member of the gang is Vernon (Stuart Townsend) who works as a blackjack dealer at a Las Vegas casino. The gang is involved in many card games, one which doesn't go according to plan. This leads to the gang being targeted by the hired thugs of a mobster named Malini (Roger Guenveur Smith). Meanwhile there is a notorious gambler named The Dean (Sylvester Stallone) who works with his former partner Eve (Melanie Griffith).
