The story of an outcast and a killer! Haunted by a secret past and tormented by an uncertain future, two lonely people are drawn together in Paris during the last desperate days of freedom before WWII. Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer are perfectly matched as the disillusioned singer and the German refugee who find love in the midst of the growing insanity. But when Boyer is deported and Ingrid left unprotected, they must fight not only for their love, but for their lives, as destiny seals their tragic fate in this classic tale of desperation and desire. Bergman was Hollywood's number one female box office star when she joined Boyer, co-star from her Oscar-winning role in Gaslight, for this acclaimed adaption by Oscar-winning director Lewis Milestone (All Quiet on the Western Front). |
