Fate. Despair. Betrayal ......Hope. Michel Marnet (Charles Boyer) asks true love Terry McKay (Irene Dunne) for some time to prove himself worthy of her. They make a date to meet six months later at the top of the Empire State Building, but a heart-breaking accident occurs to Terry on the way, threatening to keep the lovers apart forever. Love Affair was nominated for six Academy Awards in 1939, including best Actress and Best Picture-a feat, considering the competition that year: Stagecoach, The Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind. -Jennifer Krouse |
