One of the most influential directors in the history of cinema, John Ford helmed 140 films and received countless awards for his extensive craftsmanship, including four Best Director Academy Awards. Consistently setting and breaking his own standards for excellence , the fiery Irish-American visionary has been named as a significant source of inspiration by today's top film directors.

When Willie Comes Marching Home - 1950
Based on the actual memoirs of war hero Sy Gomberg, When Willie Comes Marching Home is a rare comedy from the legendary John Ford.

After basic training, a disappointed, highly patriotic soldier Bill Kluggs (Dan Dailey), is sent to an airbase back in his hometown, where he laments that he'll never fight overseas. That is, until he's allowed to replace a bomber pilot who falls ill before a big mission. But after Kluggs bumbles one thing after another, and even gets mistaken for a foreign spy when he returns home, his spirits sink lower than ever - until it is learned that some of his mishaps have actually proved heroic in the hilarious, high-flying adventure!

Up The River- 1930
With a remarkable all-star cast and prison break plot unlike any other, this offering by John Ford is sheer entertainment from start to finish.

After they've served their sentences, two prisoners who met during lockup, Steve (Humphrey Bogart) and Judy (Claire Luce), get married and head to a small town where no one know about their pasts. Soon, however, the crooked salesman (Gaylord Pendleton) who originally framed Judy finds them and threatens to reveal all if Steve refuses to join him in another crime. When they hear what's happened, two friends of the couple (Spencer Tracy and Warren Hymer) orchestrate an ingenious, selfless plan to help the couple - even though the two men are still behind bars!
