It’s 1921 and archaeologists are combing the sands of Egypt. This is the backdrop of the classic film, “The Mummy” which sees a group led by Sir Joseph Whemple (Arthur Byron) who uncovers the remains of the forgotten Prince Imhotep. When one explorer reads the scroll of Thoth he goes insane and the expedition is ended. Ten years later, Sir Joseph returns with his son, Frank Whemple (David Manners) and a new team of explorers to search the tomb of the king. However the mummified remains of Imhotep are reanimated and he is in the guise of Ardath Bay (Boris Karloff) who is aiding the expedition only to gain the attentions of Helen Grosyenor (Zita Johann), the reincarnation of Prince Imhotep’s lost love, Anck-es-en-Amon. Now Frank with the help of Doctor Muller (Edward Van Sloan) must stop the Mummy and break his mystical power.
